Requirements

Open iT Core Client

The Web App Tracker Plugin requires both the Open iT Core Client and Core Server to be running version 10.3. The client must also be connected to the Core Server.

Make sure the that the following files are present in the Open iT Core Client installation directory:

  • browser_plugin_settings.json on the Configuration directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\Configuration
  • collect_usage_browserprocess.oconf on the scheduler directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\Configuration\scheduler
  • openit_browserprocessmonitor on the openit_browserprocessmonitor directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\libexec\bin\openit_browserprocessmonitor

To enable data collection for the Web App Tracker Plugin, make sure the following Core Client module is activated:

Web browser(s)

  • Microsoft Edge or
  • Google Chrome
note

The scheduled Browser Process Monitor detects browser windows only within the Windows user session in which it is running. It does not monitor browser windows from other logged-on Windows user sessions.

Private Browsing

Private browsing is only partially supported because the extension must be enabled manually for private sessions. In Microsoft Edge, this approval is required. In Google Chrome, enabling the extension for private browsing is optional.

Administrative Rights

The Open iT Core Client installation requires Administrative Access Rights to the host machine for successful directory and file creation.

Whitelist the Plugin Extension ID

Some organizations manage browser extensions using enterprise security policies, which may automatically block or remove unapproved extensions. If your organization uses these policies, use the provided Web App Tracker Plugin extension ID to authorize the extension.
