Feature Labeling
The Feature Labeling page contains various functionalities to configure and set up labels for available features. The page is only visible to users with administrative rights to Analysis Server and is hidden by default.
Make sure to activate the feature labeling page.
Feature Label Source Priority
Feature labels can be configured using the interface, the factory file (i.e., openit_feature_factoryfile), or a feature label mapping file.
When multiple sources define a label for the same feature, the Analysis Server resolves conflicts using a priority mechanism.
- Label values stored in the GUI have higher priority than values provided by configuration files.
- Labels with higher priority are preserved and are not overwritten by updates from the factory file or mapping file.
- Configuration files apply label values only when no higher-priority label exists for the feature (e.g., when the label is blank in the GUI).
This behavior ensures that explicitly configured feature labels are retained and prevents unintended overwrites from external configuration sources.
To allow configuration files to apply new label values to existing features, the corresponding GUI labels must first be cleared.
This behavior is by design and applies regardless of which configuration source is used.
Loading Data
The Feature Labels View is empty by default. Follow these instructions to load available data:
-
Open the Open iT Analysis Server console in a command prompt.
-
Execute the following command:
ExampleOpeniT.Server.Etl.Console.exe ProcessSQL -
After the process finishes, go to the Feature Labeling page and features should be listed in the Feature Labels pane.
Notice that some of the feature have labels already. These are the labels provided by Open iT for common features.
