# Power BI Gateway Configuration

Power BI Gateway, a tool provided by Microsoft, acts as a bridge between on-premises data sources and the Power BI service in the cloud. This allows Power BI to connect securely to Open iT data sources. This has the following key features:

  • Access to on-premises Data
Power BI Gateway enables access to on-premises data sources that are not directly accessible from the cloud. This allows organizations to leverage their existing data infrastructure without requiring data migration to the cloud.

  • Centralized Management
Power BI Gateway provides centralized management capabilities, allowing administrators to monitor gateway usage and configure data source connections.

  • Scalability and Performance
The gateway efficiently manages data transfer between on-premises and the cloud systems, allowing smooth and responsive dashboards and reports even with large datasets.

With the ODBC driver configured and the Power BI Gateway setup to communicate with Amazon Athena, users can now access and visualize the data stored in S3 directly within Power BI. Organizations can efficiently visualize their data using Power BI's intuitive interface, leveraging the data retrieved from Athena via the ODBC driver and the gateway.
