# Configuring Handle Rename

Configure handle-rename.map to rename handles from cold_master.conf.

Apply the configurations shown in the Open iT server.

Open handle-rename.map in the Configuration directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\Configuration.

Notice that it contains instructions on how to edit the file.
Specify handle name with the following syntax:
```
MAP: New_HandleName   
Old_HandleName
```
Empty lines are allowed — any line beginning with # as the first non-white character is considered a comment. Globbing is also supported.
Example
```
MAP: Windows GDSPlot   
Wgdsplot
```
This example renames Wgdsplot to Windows GDSPlot.
Save the changes.

Open handle-rename.map in the etc directory, which is by default in /var/opt/openit/etc.
