# Setting Application Types for Filetype Extensions

Configure filetype_extensions.map to set the application types for filetype extensions.

  1. Open filetype_extensions.map in the Configuration directory, which is by default in C:\Program Files\OpeniT\Core\Configuration.

Notice that it contains instructions on how to edit the file.

  2. Specify filetype extensions with the following syntax:

    MAP: ApplicationName
    FiletypeExtension1
    FiletypeExtension2

Empty lines are allowed — any line beginning with # as the first non-white character is considered a comment. Globbing is also supported.

By default, the most common filetype extensions are already included in this mapping file.

    Example
    MAP: animation
    mpe
    mpeg
    mpg
    pcs

This example maps mpe, mpeg, mpg and pcs filetype extensions to animation.

  3. Save the changes.

  1. Open filetype_extensions.map in the etc directory, which is by default in /var/opt/openit/etc.

Notice that it contains instructions on how to edit the file.
